January brings a new series of Climate Solutions talks,
more island libraries will host the talk, "100% Renewable MV," and have discussions about its vision and it's time to consider running for office!
This and more in this month's newsletter.

Also, please mark your calendars for our next ICAN full-group meeting, Sunday March 8th at 2pm.  We'll send more details as the date approaches.

Thank you for being part of the Vineyard's climate action movement!
Climate Solutions Series Continues with "Beyond Fossil Fuel Homes"
The ICAN Climate Solutions series began in October with a focus on emergency preparedness.  Climate Solutions #2 focused on adapting to the impacts the climate crisis will bring.

In December, we started talks about how to reduce our impact on the planet. The third talk in the series focused on the "100% Renewable MV" warrant article that we hope will be considered at all spring town meetings.

You can see all these past presentations on MVTV--
"100% Renewable MV"; "Adapt to the Impacts" and "Be Emergency Wise!"

Now we move on to Climate Solutions #4, with more specifics on reducing our buildings' energy impact.

The path to a renewable energy future includes retrofitting buildings for lower energy use, using electric heat pumps for heating & hot water, & generating electricity renewably.
Marc Rosenbaum, building systems engineer, will speak about how to apply these strategies and kick the fossil fuel habit.
Be a climate hero and consider a run for office this year!

This is the time to put your name forward to
be on the ballot for spring town elections.

Be a voice for climate in local decision-making.  Conservation Commissions, Planning Boards, and Select Boards are particularly important places for climate discussions & decisions to occur.  Other important island-wide open positions include Airport Commissioners, Steamship Authority Board, and more.
